Lake Rotomariewhenua The Blue Lake

Lake Rotomairewhenua, meaning ‘land of peaceful waters’, also known as ‘Blue Lake’ got world wide attention when it took the title of having the clearest natural fresh water in the world.

Set amongst the rugged mountains of the Sabine valley, the amazing greens and blues of the water are an absolute stunning natural beauty.

A flight to Lake Rotomariewhenua from Murchison will take you across multiple lakes, waterfalls, vast native forests and remote river systems that lead into an alpine wonder land that make up Nelson Lakes National Park.

Established in 1956 and covering some 1,019 square kilometres the Park is a hidden gem. Valleys carved by extinct glacier systems and evidence of earthquakes of days gone by that abruptly changed the land make this place a phenomenal place to explore.

You will feel dwarfed by the sheer size of Mount Franklin at 7680 ft as you fly past its jagged and unforgiving rock faces and then astounded by the beauty of the views further a field.

This is one of our most spectacular and breathtaking flights and an absolute favourite of our staff.

You will not be disappointed !!!!!!
